I posted this on twitter a few minutes ago:

I decided to just pick a page pretty far back and check up on how the startups listed on that page are doing. Did they launch? Are they charging money? I went with http://betali.st/page/200. The listings posted where from about 11 months ago. I’ll go ahead and assume the startup has existed for a year.

So here are the results:

  1. http://trackages.com/. Site times out, cannot be reached
  2. http://www.nextstyler.com/. Launched, but in beta
  3. http://www.carshrine.com/. Looks like a parked domain
  4. http://reward.io/. Domain wouldn’t resolve

It looks like 75% of those sites are defunct. One of them actually launched, and looks like they’re doing well, but is still in beta.  

This is either good new or bad news depending on who you are.
